Meet The Team

Since 2014, Scott has worked hard to recruit a well-skilled, professional and knowledgeable team. Our multidisciplinary team gives Strathclyde great versatility in the work we can undertake. There is an exceptional amount of skills and experience bound into our tight nit team.
Scott Todd

Scott Todd

Director & Construction Manager

Scott has worked in construction for the past 20 years both on the tools and as a site Engineer then later Project Manager. Working for the largest construction company in the UK, Scott worked on some mammoth earthworks and building project. After gaining his Engineering degree in 2013 from UWS, Paisley, Scotland, Scott soon found himself on a plane to Christchurch to help with the rebuild. After a year working on the rebuild, Scott started Strathclyde, intending to provide the best possible service that Christchurch greatly needed. Scott’s passion is problem-solving. It is an in-house joke that Scott is always on a quest to find a more complex job each time. In his spare time, Scott enjoys smashing tin (weightlifting) and spending time with the family.
Natalie Todd

Natalie Todd

Office Manager

Natalie is a Southland girl who grew up on a sheep and beef farm in the Caitlins. As a youngster, she chipped in on the farm often driving tractors, diggers and trucks which would prove very useful later in life. After gaining a biochemistry degree from UC, Natalie went on to become a Chemistry teacher at ST Bedes where her amazing people skills led her to become Dean. In the early years of Strathclyde, Natalie was our only in-house truck driver. She would often spend after school hours and weekends driving the tipper truck and jumping on the tools. As Natalie’s role has developed to become solely office-based, all this experience has given her a grasp of the business that few Office Managers would have. Natalie has certainly done her fair share of training the boys and even taught our Director Scott how to drive both the Class 2 and 4 trucks. Natalie loves her current role, as it means she can work from home, being able to bring up the kids.
Bruno Todd

Bruno Todd

Mascot

Bruno has been with the company since he was a pup. It’s fair to say the construction industry is all this pooch has ever known. Bruno’s key skill is staying clear of wet concrete, something he learned early in his career. His main role within the team is staff wellbeing, spreading joy wherever he goes. In his spare time, Bruno enjoys swimming, walkies and sleeping.
Brendon Diamond

Brendon Diamond

Civil & Landscaping Foreman

Brendon is a fantastic leader and role model. His work ethic is second to none, with energy in abundance. Growing up on a farm, Brendon has always been hands-on. After finishing school, he worked 9 years in farming, then 8 years landscaping before transitioning to civils and groundworks where he has worked for the past 20 years. As well as a truckload of practical experience gained working in the UK, Australia and NZ, Brendon has a diploma in Hortical & Landscape Design, which he obtained in Sydney. Before coming to Strathclyde, Brendon was Director & Construction Manager for a medium-sized Civil Contractor in Christchurch. Brendon loves the hands-on element of his job and enjoys working outdoors. When not working, Brendon can be found working on his 5-acre block with his 3 kids, teaching them the same practical skills he learned as a kid.
Wayne Lovelock

Wayne Lovelock

LBP Builder

Wayne is our resident cockney bringing with him that Southern charm. Having worked in building for 25 years, Wayne is one of our most experienced team members and one of our LBP carpenters. Wayne loves getting into renovations and is never happier than when he has a sabre saw in his hands. His passion is “making the old stuff look good again”. In his spare time, Wayne is an avid mountain biker and footballer. During the soccer season, Wayne coaches his daughter’s football team. A little known fact about Wayne is that before taking up building he trained to become a homoeopath. We’re glad he decided to embark upon his current career.
Mark Aberhart

Mark Aberhart

Fabrication Engineer & Fitter

Mark is our very own GC. With over 19 years of experience as a fabrication engineer, Mark is a master of all things metal. In the past, Mark has built bridges, worked on the container mall, and has done his fair share of EQ strengthening. His attitude is second to none, which has earned him the role of staff rep. Given his amazing skill set, Mark enjoys working for Strathclyde because of the variety of work and the team of “good buggers” around him. When not working, Mark is teaching his kids how to be down to earth and building competition 4×4 trucks.

Core values

Strathclyde provides the most efficient solutions to complex projects. We are committed to building outstanding and durable homes and gardens with integrity and ingenuity, giving Canterbury the service it deserves.

Be Pragmatic

We value common sense, and our team knows there is a solution to every problem. If an individual hasn't seen a solution to an issue, the whole team get on the company’s group chat and see who knows what to do. Two heads are better than one, and in our case, 15 heads are even better.

Your Word Is Your Bond

If we say we are going to do something, we do it. Honesty and integrity are our most important values. They underpin everything we do. We must always deliver on our promises.

Think About The Next Guy

All our team leaders have worked on large commercial projects. They have seen first-hand the issues that arise when all trades on a project work towards the same goal. As such, Strathclyde is extremely focused on making life as easy as possible for the next trade to come in (which often is another member of our team). Thinking about the next guy keeps morale high and makes for a smoothly run project.

No Egos

Our teams communicate continually through our company group chat. If we make a mistake, we own it, and then we fix it. If we don't know the answer to something, we ask. Focusing on the big picture, which is your project, we need to leave the egos at the site gate. True collaboration only comes when we can all focus on one single goal. This is the Strathclyde way.

Treat It Like Our Own Home

Our Director Scott is often reiterating this. It can be easy to see a home as just a workplace when you are working there every day. However, we know this is not the case. We all keep reminding each other of the respect that your property deserves.

Adhere To The Heirarchy (Safety - Quality - Speed)

Reinforcing our guarantee. Safety comes first, no exceptions. It is paramount that our team gets home safe each night. Quality is next. We aim for the highest standards and our team strive to uphold this, checking each other’s work and taking time for reflection to get the best outcomes. Speed comes last. We do not cut corners.
